Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Yay! Something else is now complete. Along with the RSS Morf, Forum, Contact, Blog, Support, About, My Morfs, the My Account page is done! Still lots to do. But I can almost see the temporary finish line! (Obviously without testing and fixing bugs!)

How-To Video For RSS Morf

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

I have just uploaded, and played around with ways of displaying a new how-to video I made for the RSS morf.

Now that the RSS Morf was complete I could make this video with a combination of screen captures, screen video captures, photoshop and put it altogether in Adobe Premiere!

Then exported to FLV and uploaded to the main FeedMorf server. I then used AdBrite’s great InVideo player to show the video. Have a look at it. Go to the FeedMorf home page and click on the “Watch how-to video”.

Almost Ready For Launch!

Monday, August 20th, 2007

That’s right the site is almost ready for launch. The only thing I am waiting for is the hosting company to set up the official domain. This should be any minute now. But as it’s the weekend I expect it to me Monday morning!

The API is ready. All RSS feeds will work. At the moment ATOM feeds are not. The best way to get an ATOM feed through the API generator is to go to Feedburner and burn your feed. This can then translate your feed into any type you want. Plus the stats you can get on it are amazing. Highly recommended!

Contact Form Completed

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

After a while working this out there is now an ajax contact form. I want everything on this site to be as seamless as possible, except the obvious links to other pages. So this new contact form will continue that trend.

Also this will hopefully reduce spam. When you submit the form it doesn’t use the usual submit HTML style form tag. This is what spammes pick up and use from their own “spam maker” or whatever software they use. Instead it uses JavaScript and ajax to send. All the code is well hidden even if you wanted to send spam you will have to hunt around a hell of alot. But by that point they could have spammed someone else alot more!

Anyway the site still isn’t live yetm but i will be moving the site to the live server very soon! So when you read this it will be live. So imagine this being a message from the past or something like that!

PS
More pain in the ass compatability issues with the contact form but all sorted in a few minutes!

Browser Compatibility - Total Pain In The Ass

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Firstly I love Firefox, until about 6 months ago I was a massive fan of IE (Internet Explorer) as I had never tried anything else. Then when I got even deeper into web development I started to see that even thought IE has about 75% market share they are not 100% compliant with web standards.

But now that I use Firefox so much I develop my code to work primarily with Firefox then adjust it to fit with IE and then Safari. Once I have those 3 done that is 99% of the market covered.

So I started with Firefox, then got to Safari and found some new problems with the way IE handles the :Hover tag in CSS stylesheets. There were a few other problems that gave me a few headaches today. But an hour later I thinkI have solved those problems sucessfully.

If you have any questions please use the Contact form, it will then come straight to me.

Cheers
